Besides shopping and dining, UTC hosts dozens of family-friendly events throughout the year, plus it's close to some of the area's best local attractions like the The Mall at University Town Center and the 600-acre Nathan Benderson Park.

This sprawling shopping mall just south of the Manatee County line, conveniently located near Lakewood Ranch, is anchored by notable department stores like Saks Fifth Avenue and Macy's. The UTC Mall is a premier shopping destination packed with more than 100 stores and over 20 dining options. Other popular shops within the UTC Mall are Old Navy, Sephora, and Super Target.
 
Popular and hip counter-serve burger chain Shake Shack has an outpost at UTC. Shake Shack is known for gourmet takes on fast-food classics. Power lunch at Kona Grill, a great local sushi restaurant with award-winning rolls and innovative entrees hand-made in the scratch kitchen. Grab a beer and watch the latest game at the casual tavern chain Rusty Bucket, known for its comfort food and sports-bar atmosphere.
 

Things to Do

Sarasota touts the title "Circus Capital of the World" because of John Ringling's legacy in the city. As such, there are many circus-themed events, attractions, and exhibits to see, including The Ringling Museum, one of the top 20 museums in the nation, plus on Mondays, the Ringle Art Gallery is free to attend.
 
Every winter, Circus Sarasota puts on an annual performance under a one-ring big top. Florida is also home to the Big Cat Habitat and Gulf Coast Sanctuary. The Big Cat Habitat is a major Sarasota attraction since it's a unique rescue center for guests to see bears, monkeys, lions, tigers, and birds up close. Sarasota is home to the Ed Smith Stadium, a baseball field and the spring training home of the Baltimore Orioles. Enjoy America’s favorite pastime up close and personal without the crowds.
 

Schools

The University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee is a branch campus of the University of South Florida in Sarasota; this is where University Town Center gets its name. The road leads directly to all universities, including the FSU Conservatory, New College, and USF Sarasota-Manatee.
